This project began with a detailed cost/benefit analysis of many alternative remediation approaches for the Site. The choice of Enhanced Anaerobic Bioremediation for this project was made possible due to the Client’s extended 3 to 5 year desired remediation time frame, which differs from typical industry project norms of 6 to 12 months. This extended timeline, allowed the Client to achieve approximately 90% cost savings, when compared to a conventional “dig and dump” remediation approach. This project successfully demonstrated that Enhanced Anaerobic Bioremediation can be a cost-effective long-term remediation solution for shallow PHC impacts in soil and groundwater, provided longer periods of time are available.
